Stupid! Just Stupid!

Art Teacher Loses Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture

Children Were On School-Approved Field Trip

POSTED: 10:32 am EDT September 26, 2006
An award-winning Texas art teacher who was reprimanded after one of her fifth-grade students saw a nude sculpture during a trip to a museum has lost her job. The school board in Frisco has voted not to renew Sydney McGee's contract after 28 years. She has been on administrative leave. The teacher took her students on an approved field trip to a Dallas museum, and now some parents are upset.

The Fisher Elementary School art teacher came under fire last April when she took 89 fifth-graders on a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art. Parents raised concerns over the field trip after their children reported seeing a nude sculpture at the art museum. The parents had signed permission slips allowing their children to take part in the field trip. McGee's lawyer said the principal at Fisher Elementary School admonished her after a parent complained that a student had seen nude art. McGee said the principal had urged her to take the students to the museum. Now, McGee, who was honored with a Star Teacher Award two years ago, is on paid administrative leave until her contract with the school district expires in March.Other parents are worried about the future of the art program at the school, which they cite as a reason for moving into the neighborhood."Our main concern right now is what's going to happen to the children and what's going to happen to the art program at Fisher Elementary. It is the best art program. That's the reason we moved to this neighborhood. It's because of the teachers," said Shannon Allen, a parent. "It was a principal-approved trip. What's the big deal?"Officials with the Frisco school district declined to comment on the matter.

***My two cents***
I don't normally believe in frivolous lawsuits but this deserves it. What were the parents thinking? Had they not been to the museum themselves to know that a something of that nature may have been there? Uncouth, uncultured idiots! Now that women has no job after 28 years.

Who, What, When to watch?

.VS.
Ok, its that time of year again. The fall shows have started and its going to be a tough race. NBC and ABC are both in a tight race. Albeit NBC has been out of the running pretty much since Friends left the air and with the ending of Will and Grace last year it had nothing. Last year it kicked off Monday nights with well nothing, except Medium which has done marginally well but of course has now been moved to Sunday nights, we will see how long it survives now. It had nothing on in an earlier slot due to moving Las Vegas moving to Friday nights where it will be laid to rest in peace soon I think. Due to this stupid show Deal or No Deal(WTF, who watches this crappy ass show?!) I have been partaking in Wife Swap on ABC, yes I know its horrible but its better drama than staring at 30 something suitcases and a bald germ phobic Howie Mandel for an hour.

NBC has started their line up now with Heros, which I DVR'd and cannot wait to watch and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I LOVE this one, I never was a West Wing fan but I can see I am going to need to rent the season's. Studio's writing and subtle comedy drama feeling leaves you drooling for me, not because Matthew Perry is still hot but because this show rocks!

Neither stations even CBS has nothing on Tuesday nights except Boston Legal, Whats my name?, Denny Crane! So I DVR that and watch Nip/Tuck. Wednesday NBC has started The Biggest Loser, which I truely think is the only reality show worth watching anymore. I love that these people work hard to change their lives their habits and do it the right way and not by having surgery or going on "fad" diets. More people should watch, its amazing how inspired one can be sitting there eating your Hershey's Kisses :) But seriously I like this show too.

Thursdays are the bomb with My Name is Earl, The Office, Grey's Anatomy, ER and the new one on the block is Six Degrees. This show had a slow start but now I am really getting into it. This last week the characters have all been brought together some realize it others are still oblivious. I think it could very possibly last. To top off the week on Fridays is Numb3rs, love this show! It really brings a new and different perspective to crime solving involving my least favorite subject, math. Albeit someof the plotlines are a little far fetched and to think the FBI would be involved in some of the little storylines is slightly off but none the less I think it has a solid stand up cast with Rob Morrow(Nothern Exposure), David Krumholtz, Judd Hirsch and Peter McNichol.

So there is my tv line up, take it or leave it and if I thought I was addicted to tv before its pretty bad now, but I'll keep it.

Finally 9/12

I was thinking about 9/11 myself. What I came up with is this, and it is my opinion, no one has to agree with me.

It's been five years, for the last four this day has come and gone leaving me with little feeling and emotion. I feel horrible and awful that it happened that those people died and the families lost loved ones, hell I watched it on tv and was numb by the end of the day. I however refuse to jump on the whole "patriotic bs bandwagon".

Due to the five year mark the media jumped on board and made a "HUGE" deal out of it, some of us want to just quietly grieve and not see it everytime you turn on the tube.

When it comes to security and do I feel safe or any safer, nope not one bit. Sort of like Matt mentioned they are willing to die to kill us. There is no amount of money and security that can stop someone from destroying any one part of us or our country again. It is no excuse to be in Iraq, because that what it is in my opinion an excuse to invade another country and go on a gun ho killing tyrade. All in the name of 3,000 that were killed. I am not buying it, if that makes me unpatriotic then bite me and so be it. To me its a disgrace to drag all 3,000 into a war.

I blame the media for disclosing a lot of things that should really be kept under wraps for obvious reasons. Let them find it on the internet but don't play a part in the play and then look wide eyed when it gets used against us full out and they start ad-libbing.

Finally, I fly a lot and while I appreciate the upped security its really rather a hassle. I am not able to bring on my friggin chapstick, chapstick for gods sake, I mean come on. Be a little sensible about this stuff.
Thats my 5 cents instead of 2.
